ICU
That’s what human connection can be thought of right now: Intensive Care Unit.
When we’re thinking of human connection as intensive – well, we’d be right. In all times human to human connection is vital, literally.
You can look up stats and science that point unequivocally to the fact the feeling connected with other people spurs on longevity, good health, happiness, and alllllll the other desired parts and elements of life.
If you don’t believe in the stats and science, well, then reflect: when do you feel the most at peace, valued, and in your community? I’d bet my own self-funded retirement that it’s when you’re with people who you have a kinship with. The people who help you feel like you belong, just as you want them to know they belong.
In reading Winning The Earthquake by Lorissa Rinehart about ground-breaker and peace-maker Jeanette Rankin, I’m reminded LOUDLY that we’re ignorantly repeating bad herstory.
She was wise. She understood the remarkable depth of human connection and disconnection, and the gymnastics we go through and create to live the lives we feel compelled to live.
In whatever ways we wish to be influenced, whomever we choose to listen to and follow, however we choose to be US we are still in charge of our lives.
This doesn’t mean to ride solo or be a vigilante.
It means we’re better to reflect and remember that Interdependence is wise. Since we’re all already interdependent on each other, then the stark realization that we’ve put ourselves into the s**t show of previous times, then we must take response-ability to respond in ways that bring us together, rather than fuel vitriol and buy into negative narratives that other people are bad, and we’re good.
We’re all humans, driven by our own forces and – again – influences we choose.
If you’re feeling disconnected, today’s the day.
If your team seems disconnected, now’s the time.
Treat your day like you’re in the ICU – you’re INTENSIVEly aware and inspired to be a good human. To CARE for yourself and every other person; that’s right. Every Single One Of Them. And that as a UNIT, humanely united in our short and marvelous lives to do good works by being good people.
Lead like you mean it. Like it’s meaningful because it’s one more day of our life we can invest – or we can squander.
If you’re a leader, then step it up.
If you have influence, speak up.
Be willing to do what you can do by being a good human to stand up for the good of humanity.
Connect with yourself and other humans in an intensively caring capacity.

I work with leaders, executives and associations who directly support good humans doing meaningful work in organizations and associations that want to fuel and foster mission inspired good works (tax status irrelevant).
If you want a more connected team or membership, call me. Let’s talk.
We can make positive changes happen stat.
