“Here’s my philosophy: A career is something that happens when you work as hard as possible at a job and consider the work itself the primary reward.” – Rachael Ray, Rachael Ray 50
Rachael Ray gets a lot of press.

And it took me until I got curious – “what’s she all about?” and checked out her book (cited above) that I actually started learning about her. The hype I think I saw around here kept me away; I’ve never been a quick joiner.
This time I dropped my own uneducated bias and decided to investigate. So very glad I did.
The book – Rachael Ray 50, Memories and Meals from a Sweet and Savory Life – captivated me immediately.
What was so compelling was that in my own selective ignorance I hadn’t read about her, who she is, where she came from, her journey in modern parlance.
I am now an interested fan because her words resonated with me. Because what she shared, how she shared about herself, her life, her adventures from her home sweet home to the television studios and across the globe. How she is enthusiastic about life, reminds us she’s a cook not a chef, that she’s real and coming to the table of life with a fork – ready to dig in and share.
The quote I chose about (page 259) gave me pause. She clearly loves her life and her work and she’s living her philosophy.
So today I invite you to consider, about yourself: What’s my philosophy?
Ask yourself. Sit with it. Bring it into your kitchen, or yoga class, or on a walk. Let the idea of what your philosophy may be to bubble up – however sloppy and glurpy and (half)baked it may be.
My philosophy in life has a bit of constancy. It’s also evolved over the years along with me. Now’s the time to reconnect and reconsider so much.
I’m feeling like a personal philosophy is something I need to rethink right about now. So that’s what I’m going to be noodling on – my philosophy.
Go ahead – noodle on yours too. I’m cheering you on.
I think Rachael would be cheering us on too.
p.s. I found out as well that we were born one day apart…same month, same year….
